How to Get Your Georgia Medical Marijuana Card: The Full Process

Getting a Georgia medical marijuana card can feel confusing, even though the program has helped thousands of patients access legal relief. Here's the whole process, start to finish.

Step 1: Check if your condition qualifies

Georgia law lists specific qualifying conditions, including cancer, seizure disorders, multiple sclerosis, Crohn's disease, ALS, Parkinson's, PTSD, chronic pain, and others. If you're a veteran, note that PTSD is explicitly on the list — and it's one of the most common qualifying conditions we see.

Step 2: Get evaluated by a registered physician

You can't just ask your regular doctor — the physician must be registered with the state to recommend medical cannabis. This is where most people get stuck. You need a real evaluation with a qualified doctor who understands the program.

Step 3: Register with the state

After the physician's recommendation, you complete your registration with the Georgia Department of Public Health. There's a state fee, and you'll receive your official card.

Step 4: Purchase from a licensed dispensary

With your card in hand, you can buy low-THC oil (up to 5% THC under Georgia law) from licensed dispensaries across the state.

The shortcut

The hardest part is finding a registered physician and navigating the paperwork. That's exactly what our consultation service handles — we walk you through the entire process, connect you with a qualified doctor, and make sure nothing falls through the cracks.
